Club Meetings

The club meets at 7.30pm on a Monday evening (Bank Holidays excepted) at the Lion Hotel, situated in the town centre on the A6.

We enjoy fellowship over a meal and then listen to a talk or presentation organised in turn by the members - the subjects are wide ranging.

We also make visits to local companies, historical buildings and the theatre and hold social events as part of our fund raising activities.

Visitors are welcome to come along to a meeting to see for themselves what goes on at a typical meeting - just contact the Club Secretary.
Details of the next few meetings

Following a meeting with the Lion Hotel, the menus for Monday evenings will now consist of three choices for the main course - a traditional roast with a selection of vegetables, a dish reflecting current cuisine and a lighter, healthy option. We will continue to alternate with a starter and dessert and the good news is that the price remains at £8.50!

We start September on the 6th when President David has invited Nicholas West, a Belper business man, to come along and talk to us about operating in a conservation area and to tell us about his Educational Software Company. On the menu is Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Sweet and Sour Pork with Egg Fried Rice or Cheddar Cheese Ploughman’s Lunch followed by Fresh Peach Melba.

There is a brief meeting of the Club Council on the 13th, starting at 6.30pm. This will be followed by a Club Business Meeting with the various committees gathered on separate tables for the meal. To eat, there is Smoked Mackerel Salad followed by Roast Loin of English Pork with Stuffing and Apple Sauce, Shepherds Pie or Leek and Stilton Tart with Mixed Salad.

Our newest member, Hilary Surga, is giving her ‘My Job Talk’ on the 20th. There will be a choice between Roast Lamb Chump with Mint Sauce, Penne Pasta in Rich Tomato Sauce with Parmesan and Atlantic Prawn Salad with Marie Rose and this will be followed by Fresh Fruit Salad.

Paul Taylor is the Activity Organiser on the 27th. The starter is Seasonal Vegetable Soup to be followed by Roast Chicken Breast Wrapped in Bacon, Beef and Ale Stew or Mushroom Risotto.
